The Wrong Bros live up to their name....

Considering the team is called The Wrong Bros, what could possibly go wrong 48 hours before launch?

  • The pilot being admitted to hospital?
  • The transport company realising that the lorry they have (the biggest one you can drive on UK roads wiithout a police escort) is too small?
  • The gold bikinis that you had to get from the states getting stuck in Wales?
  • The girls that you have to go in the bikinis getting hit by a mystery bug & dropping out like flies?
  • The Princess Leia slave girl outfit which was beautifully made by Max at www.maxkane.net being left on a bus & taking a trip to Ponders End...by itself..
  • Realising that maybe wheels would be a good idea....

Surely not?

Good job there is always a plan B....ermmmm....

Anyone got a spare pilot/crane/gold bikinis/girls to go in gold bikinis/a map to Ponders End/any wheels?....

Flying Aquanauts - Take a day out to catch tea!

The flying Aquanauts took a day out of their busy schedule to go Diving, which is apparently what the diving club does (between drinking sessions) Darryl not only mangaged to land a Lobster for Tea but brought up the plate and spoon to eat it on!

Big Thanks to DIVE125 and the Our W boat for their support and for the Divers who donated some cash for the RNLI

So what do you need to give a blinding performance at RED BULL FLUGTAG 2008?...

Star Wars Theme - CHECK

Fully Working Light Sabres  CHECK (though the team leader's one is a bit bent)

12 girls dressed in gold bikinis like Princess Leia in Return of The Jedi - Erm...Not so check...

Having trawled the land (aka Facebook) to find 12 beautiful (lets face it, who wants to see a Jade Goody lookalike in a bikini), brave (would you wear a bikini in June in London?!) and generally up for it (interpret that any way you like!) ladies, I can safely say that organising the 2012 olympics would've been a helluva lot easier.

So why 12 girls? No idea. Why the bikini? HAVE YOU SEEN IT?! Plus we might as well milk the theme for all it's worth.

Slight issue in that NOONE sells it, despite there being an entire website www.leiasmetalbikini.com dedicated to it.

So with a bit of begging, natural charm & the help of the ever lovely Scarlett L'amour we have 12 'normal' looking gold bikinis coming from the states (yes, I know we are creating a chewbacca sized carbon footprint, but if you can find gold bikinis in this country then you deserve a medal).

However, our beloved *insert sound of vomiting here* team leader/slave driver/alcoholic-in-training/sleazebag/ham solo has his heart set on the original outfit (with me in it-gulp).

And with just 12 days to go, not only is the plane in two bits (don't ask...at least they've chiselled it off the floor they glued it to first...oh yes..they did this) I have to find someone to make a replica outfit.....CAN ANY ONE KNIT?!......

Dear All

The Bad Habit took some time out of their busy holy work three weeks ago to build the blessed flying wings, don’t panic there still was plenty of drinkin’, smokin’ and just dam right naughtiness from the habits.

There will be more footage of the NUNS day out coming soon so keep watching,

Just thought I'd write a quick blog to keep our team in people's minds!  We are actually doing ok at the moment... kind of.  I went away for a long weekend last weekend and was therefore unable to do any work for almost a week, bad timing I know, but what are you gonna do?!

Unfortunately this did somehow manage to put our team captain in a little bit of a stressed out state by the time I returned!  All is a lot calmer in the Pharaoh's Phantasy garage now though, and I have progressed nicely with the sphinx over the last 3 days.  We are having issues with where the wings are going to go, first of all they were supposed to be on top, then we decided underneath would be better, then on top again, and now I think we're back to underneath!  We'll see what happens over the next few days!

Well, that's it for now, I'll leave you with a pic of me in my costume (and Polly)!

Another good excuse not to show anyone our aircraft!

Why would you want to look at a big polystyrene plane when the Wrong Brothers team are so damned good at throwing press do's instead?!?

In honour of our latest TV coverage we hosted an exclusive photo shoot in the heart of the Clerkenwell Deathstar, everyone who’s anyone was there, the Jedi Council, Solo, Chewbacca, Leia, even that ponce Fett turned up and tried to blast everything in sight!

oh... and of course the Imperial dance troop....

MAD HATTERS UPDATE .......It so close now!

Posted by Mad Hatters Tea Party in Team Update

It is so close now that we are really really up against it now, but thats not a negative comment its just a statement of our intention to blow the opposition away. We have failed miserably uploading videos - some of the other teams must have more time than sense on their hands but should also be congratulated on their input. You will just have to settle for some stills of our amazing crew.

 This is Samuel,sAM N

Cheif designer and aerodynamics engineer trying  to explain what the hell is going on and how we are going to make a table fly!........The rest of us were only interetsed in playing  with Plastic cakes and Stuff!

NOTE: You can see the dissappointment in Kates face when she realised that yet again, another  lunchtime meeting included fake food.

Captain Coker from the Loo-ny Tunes here. seeing as the boys (we think they're boys) from 'I luv wood' think our videos are a bit boring, I thought we'd write some words to go with our next 'boring' video. I reckon we've put more effort into our blog then some teams have put into their whole builds! some teams obviously prefer drawing little cuddly beavers. Ah bless! U really should get out more boys! Also what bloke would want 'beaver' as a middle name? Where we come from, beaver is definitely refering to females. Ask the blonde bimbos! But if that is what you want to call yourselves, U carry on! Hope your builds are going well boys (of girls) see you soon. Loo-ny Tunes

The WileE ways of the Coyote...

MEEP MEEP’ he hears as his adversary disappears into the distance behind a cloud of dust. Narrowing his eyes the coyote concocts yet another wiley plan to once again try and catch the Roadrunner. Enlisting the help of the ever reliable efforts of ACME inc and their mail order service his latest plan will see him take to the skies.

Fabricated from the finest of bodge-up materials, and hatched from the mind of a desert dwelling canine, Team Flying Anvil (scientific advisors to the Positive Thinking group) will hammer, trundle, blast and splash their way off the launch ramp in spectacular style in a ridiculous effort to bag themselves the Roadrunner.

I will shortly upload pictures of our team and the incredibly sexy Alice in Wonderland!

The pictures are still showing quite a bland undercarriage but we have yet to lay the table so to speak - check back soon to see the transformation......

One of our team members fractured his wrist yesterday =[ and is highly unlikely to be able to join us on stage!

We'd like to say he broke it in some amazing death-defying test run of the swan, but the simple truth is he fell over and it snapped.. heroic no?

Bad news for him, good news is the swan now has wings.. feathered wings!

Dear all,

We are feeling the pressure now.... not long to go and so much to do! but it has to be said our tree is growing nicely, watering everyday has really helped as has the gentle pruning......! We have unfortunately been far to busy to be able to bore people senseless with inane video blogs.  However there may still be time after the next cracking installment!!

Hopefully some of you kind folk will join us in exchanging a little banter. We had tried to have some fun with the Loony Tunes guys but it took them 3 weeks to cotton on! Please try harder!

Good luck with the rest of your builds and looking forward to meeting up with you all to have a really great day!

Wrong Bros. Team spotted in Mos Eisley Cantina

May 7, 2008 - 11:36 AM
Posted by The Wrong Brothers in Team Update | The Event | Making Some Noise

...In LA Galaxy, far, far away, Becks was trying to get the Dark Side (Americans) to adopt a whole new ball game. Back in the tiny, inhospitable urban jungle of the Clerkenwell System, a rebel alliance was forming with a far greater challenge to face. This alliance comprised a bunch of heavy drinking, irresponsible shirkers who frequented one of the most dangerous parts of the Moss Smithfield Space Port – The Death Bar. And it was usually not-so-happy hour.

Young rebel Blue Skytalker (he talked an awful lot of marketing crap!) was attempting to convince smuggler Ham Solo – a terrible actor who couldn’t get a girlfriend – to lend the alliance his decrepit old banger of a spaceship, the Millexenium Falcon. Blue needed a vessel for the ultimate intergalactic showdown – the Red Bull Flugtag in Hyde Park. But first he had to convince Ham and his sidekick Chewbaccie (a weird cross-breed creature that was half Red Neck and half 1970’s ventriloquist bear puppet) to give up their beloved heap of junk.

Having explained that the beautiful Princess Layher had said she would do just about anything (and anyone) if she could win the Flugtag, Ham and Chewie soon agreed to the request and even offered their own services to the rebel alliance. Blue, however, knew that, even with the Falcon he would need an ace pilot to win the ultimate prize. Unfortunately, the search would not be easy. Unlike the Princess…

Our flying toilet is nearly finished so we,ve got plenty of time for some banter if you lot can handle it. We,ll probably have 39 teams on our case after you all read this but hey, bring it on, lets 'av it!

Bel is calm....

Posted by Jetro in Team Update

Hi fellow Flugtaggers,

We've been a bit quiet over here at Metro, home of team Jetro. Well actually we've been panicking, building a plane is not as easy as we first thought and we were very concerned at one point that the editor was going to have to build it in his shed. Thankfully we are now totally technically up to speed and have adapted our brilliant hand and paper aeroplane idea and even built a little model of it.  Our pilot Bel (Metros fashion writer) remains remarkably calm and even commented that she is not nervous at all. Lets see how she's feeling nearer the time.

Best of luck to all of you over the next few weeks, this is the hard bit I think. We're hoping to run some stories in the paper soon so keep an eye out

Lots of Love

Metro
